The Lab Pro

I started my biotech journey about a decade ago, but my love for biology has been lifelong. I started out in a yeast lab for an internship, then worked in a manufacturing facility for three years in a class 10,000 cleanroom. Then I worked in a polymer manufacturing lab for another two years. I got into cancer research shortly after that, and naturally fell into the lab management role during my time at a cancer research lab. I was then hired at a biotech startup called Palamedrix, where I developed and implemented their entire system of operations, including their LIMS, ELN, and ordering system. I managed the system and tweaked it as we grew, allowing for us to become acquired by SomaLogic. From there, I was able to expand operations having created a system that easily accommodated the rapid expansion, and even seamlessly implemented the company's accounting workflow into my own system. I have the natural tendency to optimize systems when I see snags. "Work smart, not hard," is a motto I often keep in mind when optimizing a lab's efficiency.

Some fun facts about me: I grew up in the Bay Area. My first job was a professional musician as a bass player. I love Dungeons and Dragons, 3-D printing, roller skating, and martial arts. I have a husband and three year old son whom I adore completely.
